DO NOT EMAIL ME YOUR EXAM!!

Do not put your name on the exam.  This is blind grading since it will be or may be part of your final grade.  Please read the instructions.

A student Tuesday night was quite adamant that essay 4 could not be answered in 500 words.  I agreed to post “my answer” to the essay although with a little trepidation.  I do not expect students to give the answer of a polished attorney, nor does the bar exam.  I remember when I took the bar review course, the instructor was telling us not to go past the time limit for the question (at that time 53 minutes) no matter what.  He joked, “You couldn’t copy the model answer in 53 minutes!”  A passing answer on the bar exam is the answer of a person with a basic understanding of the rule and the ability to use the facts given and the rule to reach a conclusion.  In class I go off many different directions trying to give the student a sense of all the possibilities suggested by the rule being discussed.   That is not required to get a passing grade on an exam.

As to essay 3, I can see progress.  There were many answers that were decent.  There was one that was very good.  Ray Ramdeholl.  New BO assignment 3 Ramdeholl  There were 1 or 2 others that were good and I would have posted the names except that the person did not put the number of words at the end of the answer as I instructed.   Continue reading →

I will be at the school in Chatsworth tomorrow by 5pm.  I will meet personally with students to review their essay answers one on one if anyone wants to do that.  First come first served.  I will be at the LAX campus on Wednesday by 5pm as well.

I will come by the Chatsworth campus this Friday at 3:00pm and hang around until 5pm if anyone would like to meet then.

For the Chatsworth class, 11 students (out of 42) have not turned in any of the three take home essays I have assigned.  Seven students have turned in only one of the three answers.  I will bring the roster tomorrow and you can look and see if I lost one of your exams.

Note:  The take home essays are mandatory.

There were three pretty good answers to the 2nd take home essay.  They are attached here.  Humberto Fajardo,  Leigh Villareal  Reggiena Abaca.  Congratulations.   Not A’s by any means but the best of the group.

Attached are the first two take-home essay questions.  The first was due on Monday and Tuesday and the second is due next Monday and Tuesday.  These are mandatory.  The instructions are mandatory.  I increased the word limit for the second question from 400 words to 500 words.   Biz Org take home essay 1 Biz Org take home essay 2

I am going to go by the school in Chatsworth this Friday, Sept 15 at 3:00 p.m.  I will hang around until about 5:00 p.m.  Students are welcome to come by and meet with me.  I can review your response to the first take-home essay question or anything else you would like to review.  No appointment necessary.

I am still getting emails from students asking me to respond whether they can choose such and such company for the first assignment.   The instructions state what I carefully announced in class – do not wait for my response, just go ahead with your choice unless you hear from me.

By the way, I am still getting emails today telling me what company a student chose.  That email was due last Friday.
